Coffee Recipes - Hot Alcoholic

  A hot coffee with a little spirits is always a great treat after a long day, when you have company over and want to make it a really special event, or if you've just had a glorious dinner and want to close it with a bang. You can use freshly brewed coffee or instant as long as it's the coffee you prefer. Throw in some great flavor combinations (some you might not expect) and wa-la, instant happiness. Coffee Almond Devine - A bit of almond liqueur goes well with the hot cream.
The perfect winter cocktail for those who like rich and creamy drinks.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup hot coffee
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream, scalded
  • 1 shot of almond liqueur

Preparation:

Just combine the ingredients and serve. You can use almond extract instead of liqueur for a non-alcoholic version. Serves 1
 

Golden Irish - Five spirits in this coffee drink really gives it a rich and amazing taste.
Now this is quite a coffee cocktail. You'll need a stocked bar to make Black Gold. Five different spirits make for a powerful drink. It's a bit sweet with a nutty taste, thanks to the Amaretto and hazelnut liqueur.

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz coffee, hot
  • 1/4 oz Triple Sec
  • 1/4 oz Amaretto
  • 1/4 oz Irish Cream
  • 1/4 oz hazelnut liqueur
  • Dash of cinnamon Schnapps

Preparation:

Stir all ingredients to combine and serve in a mug with whipped cream.
 

Cafe World  - The fruity sweetness of brandy with a tangy citrus twist.
A wonderful combination of brandy, orange, lemon and spices to awake your senses, revive your spirit and make you remember just how wonderful life is.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup brandy
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • ½ teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 6 whole cloves whole allspice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups double-strength coffee  

Preparation:

Have ready a heatproof serving bowl. Heat the brandy, sugar, orange and lemon peel, cloves, allspice, cinnamon stick and vanilla in a small saucepan over medium over medium heat. Do not boil. When brandy mixture is hot, pour into the heatproof serving bowl. Darken the room, and carefully ignite brandy (for safety's sake, you might prefer to ignite a metal ladle of the brandy mixture and add this to the serving bowl). Let the brandy burn for 60 seconds. Slowly pour hot coffee into the flaming brandy. Stir mixture. Serves 6

 

Roman Piquant - An unusual recipe, and you'll have to approximate the quantities.
A Galliano style cocktail. The flaming process makes this a dramatic cocktail for a party, though you might want to practice first so you don't catch any of your guests on fire, that would certainly bring the party atmosphere down a notch or two..

Ingredients:

  • Galliano
  • Sugar
  • Lime juice
  • Hot coffee

Preparation:

Rim a glass with sugar, then coat the inside of the glass with sugar and lime juice. Fill the glass halfway with Galliano and light it. Twirl the glass slowly to melt and caramelize the sugar. Fill the rest of the glass with hot coffee.
 

Ducky Cajun Dandy - Rum and molasses swirling with with coffee. Delicious.
Molasses will bring a strong and wonderful flavor to your cup of coffee, along with a dash of good Caribbean rum. Serve hot with whipped cream.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups hot coffee
  • 6 tbs molasses
  • 6 tbs dark rum
  • Whipped cream

Preparation:

Heat coffee and molasses in a saucepan until molasses is dissolved. Put 1 tbs of rum in each mug, and pour coffee over. Top with whipped cream. Serves 6
 

Burnt Sienna Hazelnut - An elegant beverage, served in a warm wine glass.
Share this with a partner for a relaxing drink by the fireplace.

Ingredients:

  • 10 oz brewed coffee, hot
  • 1 oz chocolate liqueur
  • 1 oz hazelnut liqueur

Preparation:

In a warm 12-oz wine glass, mix coffee and liqueurs. Top with a sprinkling of cocoa powder. Serves 1
 

Victorian Lace - Kahlua and brandy make this a fine drink to warm you up.
Serve this after your next dinner party, to start a relaxing evening with family and friends.

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups hot coffee
  • 3/4 cup Kahlua
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • Whipped cream
  • Cinnamon

Preparation:

Blend the coffee and liqueurs together and pour into 8 mugs. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Serves 8
 

Heavenly Swedish Yoddler  - Taste the rum in this one, great for a happy crowd.
Simmering with spices for a few hours will build up the flavor of cinnamon and cloves.

Ingredients:

  • 8 cups hot coffee
  • 1 cup dark rum
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 12 cloves, whole

Preparation:

Heat everything through over low heat and simmer for about 2 hours. Serves 8-10
 

Hot Buttered Bouquet - A hint of creamy butter combined with the perfect spices.
Almost sinful with the unique mixture of delicious flavors, butter, Jamaican coffee and spices.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 5-6 ounces freshly brewed Jamaican coffee, steaming
  • 1 whole clove
  • 1 tablespoon dark rum
  • 1/8 teaspoon grated nutmeg

Preparation:

Put butter in an Irish coffee glass or mug, then pour in the steaming coffee. Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Add clove and rum. Dust with nutmeg.

 

Ireland Serenity - A classic hot Irish coffee recipe with a little bit of a kick-a-roo.
You can't go wrong with this simple but classic recipe for Irish coffee. It's usually served with a thick dollop of whipped cream on top and maybe a shake or two of cinnimon.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • 1 1/2 oz Irish whisky
  • 1 tbs sugar

Preparation:

Mix together in a mug and top with whipped cream, if desired.
 

Creamy Irish Ambrosia - This recipe whips up fast using instant coffee, really nice.
This Irish cream coffee cocktail recipe takes only an instant to throw together. A bit of cocoa also makes it a bit creamier too.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbs instant coffee
  • 1 1/2 tbs hot cocoa powder
  • 1/2 oz Irish cream
  • 3/4 cup water, boiling

Preparation:

Combine ingredients in a mug and serve. Serves 1
 

Caribbean Arawak  - Get a taste of the islands with this creamy coffee and rum.
Tia Maria is always a fine addition to a cup of coffee, to add even more coffee flavor and a bit of vanilla sweetness. And a good shot of Jamaican rum doesn't hurt either. Topped with freshly whipped cream.

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups hot coffee
  • 60ml Tia Maria
  • 30ml white rum
  • 150ml thick cream, lightly whipped

Preparation:

Mix the coffee and liqueurs in a saucepan and heat through. Serve into brandy glasses and topped with cream. Serves 6
 

Mauwi Wowie Island - Brandy and Kahlua blend smoothly in this unique coffee recipe.
This is a very simple recipe, with a taste you'll remember for years to come.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • 1 oz Kahlua
  • 1/2 oz brandy
  • Whipped cream
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla

Preparation:

Mix together in a mug and top with whipped cream, if desired. Serves 1
 

Key West Breezes - A potent mix of different and divine tastes in this drink.
The recipe only serves one, but you'll want to make more to impress your friends. Key West Breezes is fast becoming a popular party drink.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup coffee
  • 1 1/2 tsp Kahlua
  • 1 1/2 tsp Frangelico
  • 1 1/2 tsp Grand Marnier
  • 1 1/2 tsp Bailey's Irish Cream

Preparation:

Mix the liqueurs together, then add to hot coffee. Top with whipped cream, if desired. Serves 1
 

The Butt  Warmer - A whole concoction of liqueurs make this rich and smooth.
A coffee cocktail with a mixture of various types of alcohol. A cup of this will warm more than your butt as it warms your soul.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 oz Tia Maria
  • 1/4 oz Frangelica
  • 1/4 oz Baileys
  • 1/4 oz Grand Marnier
  • 1 cup hot coffee

Preparation:

Combine ingredients in a mug and serve. Serves 1
 

Flaming Big Easy - A flaming drink that will impress everyone at your next party.
Maybe a little too showy for your typical morning coffee, but a wonderful spiced recipe when serving coffee cocktails for a crowd.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup coffee
  • 1 orange
  • 5 tbs cognac
  • 5 tbs benedictine
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 3 cloves, whole

Preparation:

Strip off a large piece of orange zest, and poke the cloves into it. Place in the bottom of a mug, with the brown sugar. In a saucepan, mix the cognac and benedictine and heat through. Light the alcohol and pour (flaming) into the mug. Fill mug with coffee and serve.
 

Praline De Choiseul - Creamy like cocoa, but flavored with praline liquor.
This coffee cocktail is flavored with praline liquor. The spirits give it the taste of sweet candied nuts.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups hot coffee
  • 3/4 half n half
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbs butter
  • 3/4 praline liqueur

Preparation:

Combine everything but the praline liqueur and heat through, until sugar dissolves. Add liqueur and serve. Serves 4
 

Orange Sunrise Cocktail - Add a little citrus zest to your cup, with orange vodka.
Add a little citrus zest to your cup, with some orange vodka. You might be surprised at how well orange blends with coffee. It's both tangy and mellow.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of coffee
  • 1 1/2 shots of Kahlua
  • 1 shot of orange vodka (such as Absolut's mandarin)

Preparation:

Stir coffee, Kahlua and vodka together in a mug or glass. Top with whipped cream, if desired.
 

Spanish Slow Dance - A nice mix of Tia Maria, rum and coffee. Nice, simple & easy.
Tia Maria, rum and coffee. The Tia Maria gives this cocktail some added coffee flavor. You can use light or dark rum, depending on your rum preference and taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 oz Tia Maria
  • 1/2 oz rum
  • 1 cup hot coffee

Preparation:

Mix and serve with whipped cream. Serves 1
 

Mabel's Maple Menagerie - Maple syrup and rum, the taste of the great outdoors.
An amazing mixture of maple and rum combined to tease your senses.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz light cream
  • 1 oz maple syrup
  • 2 oz dark rum
  • 6 oz hot coffee

Preparation:

Combine in a mug, and enjoy. Serves 1
